Before the start of classes, the ACP office will send you a message from acp@iu.edu to the email account that your school has provided. It will contain your unique University ID number (UID). Even if you do not plan on enrolling in the course for IU credit, you are required to create your free IU IT account.
Once you have your UID, you can begin the process to create your IU IT account.
Set up your IU IT account #
- Begin by opening the email from acp@indiana.edu containing your University ID number (UID).
Note: If you do not know your University ID number, see the section University ID number and username lookup below. - Open the IU Starter Kit.
- Follow the steps for account creation and Duo setup.
- You will receive a "Process Complete" message once you are finished with the IU IT account setup*
*This does not mean that you are registered for the course. You will still need to complete registration if you are a) eligible and b) want to take this course for college credit.
Reset your IU IT account passphrase #
Passphrases for IU computing accounts can be reset using the link below.
Note: You will need your IU Username and 10-digit University ID number to reset your passphrase. If you do not know your 10-digit UID, see the section University ID number and username lookup below.
University IT Support (UITS) recommends you wait 10-20 minutes before attempting to use a reset passphrase to login to any university systems–this includes the ACP Registration module.
It may be necessary for you to clear your cache before attempting to login after resetting your passphrase.
University ID number and username lookup #
If you do not know your 10-digit university ID number or the username created for your IU computing account, you can use the tool below to have this information emailed to you.

About Two-Step Login (Duo) at IU #
Two-Step Login (Duo) provides an additional layer of security when you log in at IU. Also known as two-factor authentication, this helps protect sensitive data and guard against increasingly sophisticated email and online scams (for example, phishing attacks) that can leave you vulnerable to identity theft. IU has partnered with Duo to provide this service.
